About WCA Australia

Subluxation based Chiropractic has it’s beginnings at the very roots of Chiropractic in the early 1900’s. There are many dozens of Subluxation based Chiropractic techniques practiced in Australia and around the world.

One of the Subluxation based techniques Corrective Chiropractic focuses primarily on the structural component has published its methods, science and model of the ideal spine in peer review journals and inter-professional publications. This technique is called Chiropractic Biophysics and is now the most published and validated technique in the Chiropractic profession. Although Structural Corrective techniques differ in their models, protocols and support care, they share similar outcome of care which is the ideal spine model published by CBP( Harrison et al). The rapid emergence of CBP has lead to new challenges in standards and practices in Australia and world wide. The challenge is primarily that Correction involves more time, more care, more support care, more measurement via x-rays and more cost than palliative or short term care models. This has led to increased need to educate the public, the profession at large and governmental groups.

The need to promote, develop and educate about Corrective Chiropractic became such a high need that a specific association was developed with expertise and focus in this area of specialisation. This association was initially called Corrective Chiropractic Australia- standards, protocols and advocacy. It later became WCA-Australia to align with existing Corrective Associations that had formulated international peer reviewed guidelines.

Although different Subluxation based Chiropractic techniques also include Neurologic and Functional correction, Structural correction has taken such a limelight in the profession and public arena that sometimes Corrective Chiropractic is associated with being only Structural Correction Techniques or specifically with being CBP. It’s important that it is recognised that although CBP is currently the most researched and a highly respected technique , it is only one of many that may in time prove to be as effective or better. The credible use of technique is not only measured by it’s research status but also it’s historical status, effectiveness and personal preferences of the profession.
